We are looking for the right new home for our beautiful 5-month-old male Fox Red Labrador, Muka. Born 12 April 2026, Muka is a pedigree working-line Labrador, KC registered, microchipped, fully vaccinated, regularly wormed and flea treated, and has been seen by our vet throughout his time with us. He comes from strong working lines. His sire is Ronnie Red of Cottershot, a striking working Labrador who is fully health tested and weighs approximately 35kg. His dam weighs approximately 25kg. Photos of both parents are included, along with photos of him as a younger puppy and now. We are rehoming him because, as a young family, we underestimated the amount of time and commitment a young working-line Labrador requires and feel he would be better suited to a home that can give him more time and attention. He is still very young and his training is limited, so his new owner will need to be prepared to put time into his training. He has previously been walked regularly, is good around other dogs, and has grown up around our toddler and has been absolutely fine with her. We are his current owners rather than his breeders. His KC registration and relevant documentation will be provided to his new owner. Please note that although we are advertising now to give us time to find the right home, he will NOT be available for collection until 12 October 2026, when he will be six months old. Finding the right home is much more important to us than a quick sale. Ideally we’re looking for someone who understands the time, exercise and attention a young working Labrador needs. Please tell us a little about yourself and the home you can offer when getting in touch. Serious enquiries only.

Buying a Labrador Retriever in Essex

Labrador Retriever adverts in Essex come from local breeders, private owners and rescues, who are asked to complete a photo ID and live selfie check — look for the Verified badge. Typical prices sit around £800–£2,000, and demand in and around Essex means good litters are often reserved quickly — message the seller through PetTrader rather than paying a deposit off-site.

    • Check the seller's badges

Look for Verified, Licensed Breeder, KC Registered or Insured badges on Essex adverts — each one is confirmed by our team against uploaded paperwork.

    • View at the seller's home

Under Lucy's Law, puppies must be seen with their mother at the place they were bred. Never meet at a car park, station or motorway services near Essex.

    • Ask for local paperwork

Request the microchip number, vet records, worming and vaccination dates, plus the council licence number if the seller is a licensed breeder in Essex.

    • Set your travel radius

Use the distance filter with your postcode to see Labrador Retriever adverts within 10, 25 or 50 miles of Essex instead of scrolling the whole country.

    • Budget beyond the price

On top of the £800–£2,000 purchase price, plan for insurance, food, vaccinations and neutering — ongoing costs in Essex are usually higher than rural areas.

    • Pay safely

Keep conversations in PetTrader messaging, never pay by bank transfer to hold an animal you haven't seen, and report anything that feels wrong to our team.

    Labrador Retriever buying questions

How much do Labrador Retriever puppies cost in the UK?+

Labrador Retriever puppies typically sell for £800–£2,000 in the UK. Prices vary with health testing, Kennel Club registration, pedigree lines and the breeder's location. Always ask what is included — vaccinations, microchipping, worming and a vet check should be standard.

What should I ask a Labrador Retriever breeder before buying?+

Ask to see the puppy with its mother, request health test certificates for the parents, confirm microchipping and first vaccinations, and check the breeder is licensed if they breed regularly. Never buy a puppy you have not seen in person, and never pay a deposit before visiting.
